David Gaus Profiled in M Magazine -- Milwaukee's Lifestyle Magazine
During February, M Magazine from Milwaukee published an excellent article on their native son, Dr. David Gaus. The article, titled "The Picture of Health," describes the road David has travelled since growing up outside Milwaukee to his current role as the leader of Andean Health and Development in Ecuador.

The article also provides some insights into David's personal life including his wife Elizabeth and three wonderful children in Ecuador and David's extended family back in Wisconsin.

AHD Announces Hesburgh International Health Leadership Program
To ensure the future success of AHD, we are establishing a Hesburgh International Health Leadership program. This will give eligible candidates the opportunity to receive a Masters in Non-Profi t Business Administration through the University of Notre Dame. These Health Leaders will receive the training to continue the Dr. Gaus legacy and reshape the health care landscape throughout Latin America.


AHD Speaks at American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene
AHD Board Members Barney Cline, Mike Heisler and Alan Gianotti joined Dr. David Gaus at the 56th Annual meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. The meeting took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 6th.

Dr. Cline organized this special symposium as an adjunct to the ASTMH general session. The symposium expanded the typical ASTMH agenda to focus on service delivery and the possible implementation of scientific advances.

Dr. Gaus Speaks to South Bend Docs
Every year, physicians from South Bend, Indiana gather on the Feast of St. Luke to discuss and contemplate the role they play both in their local community and in the world at large. This year, South Bend Docs welcomed Dr. David Gaus, Notre Dame graduate and founder of a self-sustaining healthcare system in rural Ecuador that is changing the way we think about the affordabilty of global health.

Dr. Gaus Speaks at Tulane University
On October 16th and 17th, Dr. David Gaus and fellow AHD Advisary Board Member Dr. Barney Cline travelled back to New Orleans to speak at Tulane University Medical School (Dr. Gaus alma mater). Dr. Cline is former Chairman of the Department of Tropical Medicine at Tulane.

Dr. Gaus spoke to students about the challenge of sustainable affordable healthcare in rural 3rd world regions.
