Dr. Gaus addresses the dignitaries and locals who attended the opening of the PVM facility in 2000.  The opening was the culmination of a journey Dr. Gaus began in 1984.

DR. DAVID GAUS

Dr. Gaus received his BA in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame in 1984, his MD from Tulane Medical School in 1992, and his MPH & TM from Tulane School of Public Health in 1992. He completed residency training at the University of Wisconsin Family Practice Residency Training /St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee from1992-1995.

He is a member of AOA - Tulane Medical School, received the Thomas Dooley Award from the University of Notre Dame in 1999, the Capovitz Medical Award for outstanding Senior Student in the Discipline of General Internal Medicine (Tulane Medical School) and the Spirit of Ignatius Award, Marquette University High School, 1999.

Dr. Gaus is the co-founder of and has served as Executive Director of Andean Health and Development from 1994 to the present. He is Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine, University of Wisconsin, Executive Director - Hospital Pedro Vicente Maldonado, Ecuador, Adjunct Professor - Tulane University Dept. of Tropical Medicine, Adjunct Professor - Universidad de San Francisco de Quito, 2000, and Emergency Dept. Staff Physician - St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee.

Dr Gaus is fluent in Spanish, and has been the focus of articles in the NY Times Magazine and Notre Dame Magazine.

On a personal note, Dr. Gaus is married and has three young children. He and his wife Elizabeth live in Ecuador.
