AHD Timeline
1997
AHD begins working in Pedro Vicente Maldonado (PVM) west of Quito in Ecuador. Initial work includes a health assessment of the community.
2000
In December, the hospital at PVM is opened after the Meehan Family Foundation provided $150,000 for construction and sent containers of equipment and supplies
2001
The inaguration week for PVM takes place during March;
2002
The Hospital achieves 45% cost recovery; Weinberg Foundation provides a total of over $400,000 over three years to cover operating deficit transition.
2003
The Hospital achieves 47% cost recovery.
2004
The Hospital achieves 54% cost recovery.
2005
The Hospital achieves 70% cost recovery; Ronald McDonald House Charities agrees to provide AHD with $150,000 including an ambulance
2006
The Hospital achieves greater than 90% cost recovery;
AHD invited by Ministry of Health (MOH) to discuss the application of the model in a public, rural hospital.
